  • WOOHOO! Now I have the sequel as-well!!! This game is similar to the original 1942, with one change to gameplay: You now get only one plane, which has hit-points. Collect power-ups, for both weapons and health and battle your way through wave after wave of enemies. The hit percentage at the end of the wave refers to the number of guns shot while attacking the carriers, so thile ships are present, planes are low priority. On recipt of the game, I found it to have one missing Color PROM (causing the entire game to have a blue hue). Fortunately, it's not difficult to have another made, so long as I could provide the data to burn. I found the data on a web-site which serves MAME ROM images (and because of such availablility of the ROM data, was able to save this awesome game from becoming junk'd). Also, the sound was making a strange poping sound once every second. There is a fairly standard audio amp section on all arcade boards. It is the area with one or more large capacitors and a large heat-sink with a transistor or chip attached to it. One of the capacitors was sheered off my PCB. Just make sure you have the polarity correct when you replace one of these!
