Rally-X (part of the Namco Classics Vol. 2 PCB)

  • Players: 2 (alternating)
  • Game 3 of 7 on a multi-game PCB (Namco Classics Vol. 2)
  • This is a game I first encountered on my cousins' Vic-20!!! It was knows as "Radar Rat Race", and I was instantly addicted. You had to drive your rat around and eat slices of cheese. You could release deadly plumes of gas which would stun the other rats :-) It was a total rip-off of this game, just featuring different artwork. Anyway, back to Rally-X. The levels on this game are monumentally large compared to other games of its' time. The first level is available in its' entirety below.

New Rally-X (part of the Namco Classics Vol. 2 PCB)

  • Players: 2 (alternating)
  • Game 4 of 7 on a multi-game PCB (Namco Classics Vol. 2)
  • As far as I understand, this is simply Rally-X with less enemies. ("New" = Novice?)

Rally-X Arrangement (part of the Namco Classics Vol. 2 PCB)

  • Players: 2 (alternating)
  • Game 5 of 7 on a multi-game PCB (Namco Classics Vol. 2)
  • Well, what have they done to Rally-X??? To bring this game up-to-date, Namco has elected to redo the graphics (wise move, those old graphics were pretty darn simple!) The new graphis give the levels more atmosphere, certain levels feature devices such as teleporters, and some levels actually remind me of "Gauntlet" in the way you are required to figure out where the teleporters take you in-order to complete the level.
