- This was a game I first encountered on my C64 (where it was known as Space Pilot).
Both my mom and I were hooked in no time :-)
The object is simple: you fly in the direction you push the joystick, and shoot all the
enemy aircraft you can find. Fly over parachutists to pick them up for extra points.
Shooting aircraft fplying in a formation also yields extra points. Once you have shot
enough aircraft, a boss will appear which requires multiple shots to destroy. Once a level
has been completed, your fighter warps to another time. The time-line is shown below.
- Space Pilot is known as a "bootleg". That is to say, it was created by ripping-off someone
else's work. The original game was Time Pilot.
There were no major changes made to the game other than the editing of the title graphics
(and it looks like they spent very little time on that edit). The board is called a
"Taime Paylot" PCB. Say it out loud, and it sounds suspiciosly similar to "Time Pilot".
There is a good page here about the background of many arcade bootlegs.
Read this guys page, he cracks me up!
