  • When I recieved this one, I was happy that it WORKED, however, it did have some graphic errors. The title screen had some ugly orange pixels on the name, and some characters such as '0' had erroneous pixels in them. By running the game with one EPROM removed at a time, I was able to narrow the problem down to likely being EPROM-4. I checked EPROM-4 against a copy I downloaded from the 'net. Unfortunately, they matched. This means, the EPROM itself is OK. I checked all the others, and they all were OK. So, I looked back to EPROM-4. There must be a problem around it. I checked POWER and GROUND (see my lesson learned fixing Cabal). All's well. All signals checked-out. I flipped over the board and looked at the bottom closely, and noticed it looks like a screwdriver or other pointy object had been dragged across a small region of the board. Its path took it over two solder points which were close together. The solder had been flattened on one point, and squished in the direction of the other. There was a small chance they were actually making contact. I cleaned it up, and the graphics cleared up. It was hard to spot, but I found it, and am now happy to have a Twin Cobra running in perfect condition :-)
